Sheffield Christmas Market

We had a wander through Sheffield Christmas Market in town this afternoon, just by the Peace Gardens.  It was a good time to be hungry.  I left my camera on the kitchen table but here’s a few pictures from my phone – not great quality – to give you a flavour of what’s one there for the next few weeks.  The website says that it’s open until 24th December, but I’m not sure how many of the stalls are open midweek – head down at a weekend to be sure of a good range, or contact the market organisers via the website to check.

We shared out lunch and split between the bratwurst and Sheffield’s own Mexican Street Food Chef – look out for them at local events and at the continental market in the city centre.  I adore Mexican food, so when I see them, I can’t resist one of their burritos.

I asked permission to take a few shots of their stall and was met with an offer of ‘Would you like a photo of my pork?’…how can a girl say no to that?

The burrito was fantastic – my only disappointment was that I didn’t get the biggest one, as it was all over too soon (and that I had to share it).

Later in the afternoon (after the free cuppa courtesy of Plusnet who were outside Barkers Pool) we popped into the Crucible Christmas Market where Eddie from Our Cow Molly was selling their special Christmas Pudding ice cream with real Christmas pudding mixed in – amazing flavour – just wish they had the brandy butter flavour this year to go with it – bring it back Eddie!

PS – no photos of the gluhwein – I got very sulky looks from the man dishing out festive drinks, without a hint of festive cheer…

  1. Those burritos look fierce!

Will have to face the festive shopper mayhem on Fargate and have a venture into town to give them a try.

  2. Unfortunately we do not do the farmers market, we are however at the continental markets. We are also trying to get a shop open at the top of Pinston Street, Sheffield by the New Year. Rich
